A grassroots organisation providing free & low cost accomodation

what’s HUSK

Since 2017, HUSK has supported hundreds of women and gender-diverse people experiencing homelessness and/or domestic violence.

Husk is a grassroots housing collective organised for and by people oppressed by patriarchy because of their gender; particularly those facing homelessness, domestic violence or violence from the state. We work hard to be a supportive place for refugees / asylum seekers, first nations people, those living with mental illness and/or disability, and the LGBTQ+ community.

why HUSK

HUSK’s holistic mantra provides an alternative housing support collective that offers people relevant assistance, not just a home to live in.

We strongly value cultural safety and work hard to be a supportive group for POC and LGBTQIA+ individuals, and those with mental illness and disability. We have a strong focus on family reunification and support many women with involvement from child protective services.

where’s HUSK

HUSK provides transitional and long term housing as well as support for individuals across Narrm (so-called Melbourne) and Meanjin (so-called Brisbane).
